Is it safe to put the contents from a used water filter, into your compost pile?

I haven't done this yet, but want to share the research that makes me believe it could be not just safe, but potentially really beneficial, to put the contents of a water filter into your compost pile - provided you have a good amount of compost worms in it. 

Some people say that the contents of a water filter are not good for a garden, because the water filter contains contaminants like heavy metals, that can be bad for soil and plants. But keep in mind that compost worms can have an incredible ability to filter and neutralize toxins, including heavy metals (some types of worms may have more of a tolerance than others - need to research this).

Please note, I have not tried this yet.  I haven't seen any videos on this particular topic yet. But the research I've done is leading me to believe that composting the contents of your water filters could actually be a great way to make use of the contents of a water filter, but also to keep those heavy water filters out of our landfills!

I now like to think it was God's way of telling me to do more research on this topic, because they could turn out to be a great way to make healthy, crumbly soil that earthworms love. It's important to understand why Biochar is really beneficial to have in your soil. You can read more about that, HERE. But the gist is, biochar is a GREAT environment for beneficial microbes to THRIVE, and those microbes are a really important component of great soil. Biochar is also great for water retention.
